Preparing for the driving part of the license test

The driving part of the license test will involve many different aspects of driving.  We will list some of the major skills. Make sure to practice in the car you will be taking the test in. Try not to be too nervous. Please don’t take the test unless you are ready. The person giving the test can tell if a person is not ready.

  • Be sure to buckle the seat belt
  • Lock and secure your car
  • Turn your lights on
  • Adjust seat and mirrors
  • Know where accessories like wipers, heat, and defrost are
The test will involve:
  • Stops and starts
  • Turns
  • Parallel parking
  • Uphill/Downhill parking
  • Angle, curb and right angle parking
  • Alley driving
  • One ways
  • Controlled and uncontrolled intersections
  • Use of brake and accelerator
  • Right of ways
  • Yielding
  • Lane changes
  • Alley driving
  • Posture and hand positioning
  • Backing in a straight line and 90 degree back and turn
You can make a check list out of these tasks to make sure the driver is prepared to take the test. If the student can master these skills they should be able to easily pass their license test.
